Conclusion
In this contribution we provided our views on CSI enhancements and 3 Tx UE features for Rel-19 NR MIMO.
We made the following observations:
Observation 1 There does not seem to be a benefit to reduce the maximum number of SRS resources for non-codebook based operation below the 4 supported in Rel-15. Supporting a maximum of 3 resources would instead limit the potential for diversity gain, and be less consstent with the principle of allowing a maximum layer capability that is less than the number of SRS resources.
Observation 2 Given the smaller set of scenarios where simultaneous transmission can be beneficial as compared to non-simultaneous transmission, it seems more important to support maxNumberSRS-ResourcePerSet = 4 than to support 4 simultaneously transmitted SRS resources.
Observation 3 Based on the discussion regarding the S-TRP non-codebook case and to maintain the consistency between S-TRP and M-TRP non-codebook schemes, the supported number of SRS resources in one SRS resource set should include the value of 4 in Component 4 of FG 59-3-4a and 59-3-5a.
Observation 4 Although agreed, the note does not belong in FG 59-3-4, 59-3-4a, 59-3-5 and 59-3-5a and should therefore be revisited and further discussed.
Observation 5 Component 3 of FG 59-3-2, which indicates the maximum number of simultaneous transmitted SRS resources in one symbol, appears to be a typo and is not required since this capability is normally associated with non-codebook, rather than codebook based opertion.
Observation 7 Since the agreement reached in RAN#106 applies only to the 3T3R antenna switching feature, the 3T6R capability should be considered as a new feature for UEs reporting 3Tx capability. Therefore, in line with Rel-17, a set of antenna switching capabilities {t1r1, t2r2, t1r2, t3r3, t2r4, t1r4, t2r6, t1r6, t3r6, t1r8, t2r8} should be introduced for Component 1 of FG 59-3-3. The UE can report a supported combination from this set to the network, which can then configure one of the reported antenna switching options using a bitmap.
Observation 8 The structure where the optional capabilities are signalled as separate feature groups makes it impossible to signal combinations of optional features.
Based on the discussion in the previous sections we propose the following:
Proposal 1 Support ‘per band’ reporting for the following FGs:
FGs related to Single panel Type I codebooks (i.e., FGs 59-2-1-1, 59-2-1-1a, 59-2-1-1b, 59-2-1-1c, 59-2-1-1d, 59-2-1-1e: Support of enhanced Type-I MP codebook for 64 Tx ports)
FGs related to Multi panel Type I codebooks (i.e., 59-2-1-2, 59-2-1-2a, 59-2-1-2b)
Proposal 2 For FGs 59-2-1-3, 59-2-1-3a, and 59-2-1-3b, support the same reporting type as Rel-16 eType-II codebook.
Proposal 3 For FGs 59-2-1-4 and 59-2-1-4a, support the same reporting type as Rel-17 FeType-II codebook.
Proposal 4 For FGs 59-2-1-5, 59-2-1-5a, and 59-2-1-5b, support the same reporting type as Rel-18 eType-II Doppler codebook.
Proposal 5 Support only aperiodic CSI-RS and 2-slot CSI-RS resource aggregation in FG 59-2-1-6.
Proposal 6 For FG 59-2-1-7, the pre-requisites should be one of 59-2-1-1/1a/1b, or one of 59-2-1-1c/1d/1e.
Proposal 7 For FG 59-2-1-7, the reporting type should be ‘per band’.
Proposal 8 Support maxNumberSRS-ResourcePerSet = 4 for Rel-19 3 Tx non-codebook based operation.
Proposal 9 Proposal 19 Consider support for the value of 4 for maximum number of simultaneous SRS resource transmission for Rel-19 3 Tx non-codebook based operation once support for maxNumberSRS-ResourcePerSet = 4 is agreed.
Proposal 10 Support the value of 4 for the maximum number of SRS resources in one SRS resource set for Rel-19 3 Tx non-codebook based M-TRP operations.
Proposal 11 Revisit and discuss the note in FG 59-3-4, 59-3-4a, 59-3-5 and 59-3-5a.
Proposal 12 Remove Component 3 from the UE feature for codebook based PUSCH transmission for 3 Tx for S-TRP.
Proposal 13 Rearrange the term ‘only’ in the note for FG-3-3a, as below,
Note: This UE feature can be signalled together with srs-AntennaSwitching8T8R-r18, srs-AntennaSwitchingBeyond4RX-r17, supportedSRS-TxPortSwitch-v1610, or supportedSRS-TxPortSwitch to indicate SRS antenna switching downgrading capability only for a UE with 4Rx, 6Rx or 8Rx.
Proposal 14 Include a set of antenna switching capabilities {t1r1, t2r2, t1r2, t3r3, t2r4, t1r4, t2r6, t1r6, t3r6} for Component 1 of FG 59-3-3, update the name to include “or enhanced 8R’.
Proposal 15 FG 59-1-1 and FG 59-1-2 is signalled per band.
Proposal 16 Include FG 59-1-3, 59-1-4, 59-1-5, 59-1-6 as components in FG 59-1-1 and FG 59-1-2.
Proposal 17 Modify the description of FG 59-4-8 to capture the dedicated UE capability according to RAN1 agreement, e.g., “DCI format 1_1 to indicate TPC command for SRS associated with separate SRS CLPC adjustment closed loop index(es)”
Proposal 18 Add 59-4-8 as one of the prerequisite feature groups for FG 59-4-9a and FG 59-4-9b.
