Title: On UE features for IoT-NTN Phase 3
Document for: Discussion
1 |
Conclusion
Based on the discussion in the previous section we made the following observations:
Observation 1 For UL capacity/throughput enhancements for IoT-NTN, our views on the remaining open issues for FG 1-1 are as follows:
Components:
o The bracket on the 2nd component (i.e., TDM DMRS) is removed until the WA has been confirmed by RAN1.
o The bracket on the 3rd component can be removed upon applying the following clarification: Dynamic activation/deactivation of OCC feature via DCI.
o Although we do not expect any additional component, the “FFS: Whether to have other component(s)” can be kept until knowing any remaining agreements for this Rel-19 objective.
Prerequisite feature groups: In our understanding the pre-requisite FG to be added should be “Rel. 17 2-1b”.
Type: The “Type” should be defined “Per UE,” since in our understanding the OCC feature does not have any specific RF aspect nor other reason that requires defining it to be band specific. Yet, IoT-NTN features of previous releases have been defined “Per UE”.
Need of FDD/TDD differentiation: FDD only.
Capability interpretation for mixture of FDD/TDD: The brackets can be removed as to keep “N/A”.
Note:
o Remove the following “[FFS: Whether to separate this FG for GSO and NGSO]” since the OCC feature is agnostic to the satellite orbit.
o Keep the “[Note: This FG is applicable only to [IoT-NTN band]]” since more discussion is needed on whether the OCC feature should be applied only to NTN or to both NTN and TN.
Observation 2 For UL capacity/throughput enhancements for IoT-NTN, our views on the remaining open issues for FG 1-2 are as follows:
Components:
o The bracket on the 2nd component (i.e., CDM DMRS) can be removed upon applying the following update “2. Support of CDM DMRS with the pattern supported for NPUSCH format 1 with 15 kHz SCS”.
o The bracket on the 3rd component can be removed upon applying the following clarification: Dynamic activation/deactivation of OCC feature via DCI.
o Although we do not expect any additional component, the “FFS: Whether to have other component(s)” can be kept until knowing any remaining agreements for this Rel-19 objective.
Based on the discussion in the previous sections we propose the following:
Proposal 1 RAN1 strives to keep the number of “UE- feature s groups” small for IoT-NTN.
Proposal 2 RAN1 to capture the updates on the UE capabilities for “UL Capacity/Throughput enhancements for IoT-NTN” as described in Table 1.

Agenda Item: 9.15.9
Document for: Discussion and Decision
|
Conclusion
In the contribution, we provide our view on UE features for NTN for IoT Phase 3, with the following proposals. The list of the detailed UE capabilities is provided in Annex.
Proposal 1: FG 1-1 and FG 1-2 should include dynamic activation/deactivation of OCC as component.
Proposal 2: FG 1-1 should include the component of support of TDM DMRS over 4 slots where DMRS are transmitted in the first 2 slots and DMRS REs are blanked in the next 2 slots, or vice-versa.
Proposal 3: FG 1-2 should include the component of support of CDM DMRS with the pattern supported for NPUSCH format 1 with 15 kHz SCS.
Proposal 4: FG 1-1 and FG 1-2 should be applicable only to IoT-NTN band and defined as per band type.
Proposal 5: A single FG of FG 1-1/FG 1-2 is defined for both GSO and NGSO.

Title: Discussion on UE features for NTN for IoT Phase 3
Agenda item: 9.15.9
Document for: Discussion & Decision
|
Conclusions
In this contribution, we discussed potential UE features for NTN for IoT Phase 3, and the following proposals are made.
Proposal 1:
OCC function and its related new DMRS pattern should be defined in a single UE capability.
Proposal 2:
For NPUSCH format 1 OCC based multiplexing, separate UE capabilities for different SCSs can be considered to relief the complexity for UE implementation.
Proposal 3:
At least IoT-NTN UE capability should be the prerequisite feature group(s) for IoT-NTN uplink capacity/throughput enhancement.
Proposal 4:
OCC function and Dynamic activation / deactivation of OCC should be defined in a single UE capability.
Proposal 5:
No need to separate this FG for GSO and NGSO.
Proposal 6:
Adopt the following FGs for IoT-NTN uplink capacity/throughput enhancement.

Conclusions
In this contribution, we present our perspectives on the newly updated UE features and offer the following proposals:
Proposal 1: Take FG 2-1b as the prerequisite feature group for IoT-NTN phase 3 UE feature groups.
Proposal 2: Support “per band” granularity for UE features for IoT-NTN phase 3.
Proposal 3: Support NPUSCH format 1 OCC multiplexing only for FDD band.
Proposal 4: Take the GSO and NGSO as two separate UE feature groups.
Proposal 5: Adopt the UE features in the Annex for the support of IoT-NTN UL capacity enhancement.
